1503 Stones Peak Drive, Longmont CO 80503

Taken to the studs.
A complete redesign in southwest Longmont. Longs Peak and Front Range views across permanent open space.

THE STORY

We bought this home because of the lot — one of the few in southwest Longmont with unobstructed views of Longs Peak across land that will never be built out. Then we spent two years rebuilding it.
Everything is new. Mechanicals, drywall, floor plan, finishes. What we kept was the site, some of the bones, and the view.
The result is a home that doesn't exist anywhere else at this price in Boulder County: a full reimagining designed by one of the region's most respected residential architects, executed at a level of finish and material intent that new construction rarely reaches.
We rebuilt it for our family. Life pointed us in a different direction before we could settle in.

DESIGNED AND BUILT BY

Architecture by Lightwell, a Niwot-based residential firm working across Boulder County, the Front Range, and the Rocky Mountain West. Construction by West Boulder Development. The choice of both was deliberate — we wanted a home built to hold up to raise our kids, not one built to sell.

THE SETTING

The view is out the back. Longs Peak fills the western picture window. The Front Range extends north and south across preserved open space that cannot be developed. The ground behind the home is not undeveloped land waiting for a builder — it is preserved. The view will not change.
The front of the home opens to the neighborhood. A park and the neighborhood amenities sit directly across the street. The elementary, middle, and high schools are all walkable from the front door.

THE MAIN LEVEL

The kitchen anchors the main floor. A 48" chef's oven. A 60" refrigerator. Two Miele dishwashers make entertaining a breeze. A dedicated coffee bar. A walk-in butler's pantry that hides everything the main kitchen shouldn't have to show, behind a faux cabinet door that reads as millwork.
The living room opens off the kitchen with a floor-to-ceiling picture window framing Longs Peak. Twenty-foot ceilings. White oak floors. A central fireplace finished in lava paint — a mineral-based coating that actively purifies indoor air. A newly installed oversized slider brings the outdoors in — the west-facing view becomes part of the room in all seasons.
Two dedicated offices for two people who work from home without fighting over conference calls. A playroom off the living room for the kids — or make it your library.
A custom mudroom off the garage entry — where jackets, boots, and school gear land rather than on the kitchen island.

THE BEDROOMS

Five bedrooms, each with a private ensuite bath. Five suites, each giving its occupant privacy.
The primary suite faces west to Longs Peak. In-floor radiant heat in the bath. Step-in shower, freestanding tub, honed materials throughout. A custom closet.
Three laundry rooms, placed where laundry actually happens, on every floor. The main laundry room is oversized and pre-plumbed for a second stacked washer and dryer — for families running two loads simultaneously.

THE LOWER LEVEL

The lower level holds what the rest of the home shouldn't have to. A home gym. A sauna. A movie room. A wet bar with full-sized refrigerator and wine storage, built to entertain without anyone walking upstairs for ice. The fifth ensuite guest suite provides visiting family with privacy. Two dedicated storage areas complete the floor.
It's the floor where teenagers disappear with their friends and you're grateful they're still in the house. It's also the floor where parents retreat at the end of a long week.

OUTSIDE

A wood-burning fire pit at the back of the property, oriented to Longs Peak. The kind of setup where a cold evening turns into a dinner that stretches an hour longer than planned.
A multi-level waterfall feature sits nearby — the sort of thing kids and dogs tend to find before the adults do.
An oversized deck with a hardlined gas hookup for the grill and 220V wiring for a hot tub. A sunken sitting area for sunsets.

THE GARAGE

EV hookup installed. Newly painted. Newly finished floor. One less project for the next owner.

THE MATERIALS

We cared about what the home is made of, not just what it looks like.
Low-VOC paint throughout. Lava paint — a mineral coating that absorbs and neutralizes airborne compounds — on the fireplace and range hood. New Zealand wool carpet in the bedrooms, because synthetic carpet off-gasses for years. White oak flooring, honed marble, plaster mantles. Two on-demand hot water systems, sized so no one waits and nothing gets wasted. Thoughtful, nontoxic finishes specified one product at a time, because we were planning to raise our children here.
If you're the kind of buyer who reads the labels on what goes into your home, you already know how rare this is.

THE LOCATION

All three schools are walkable from the front door. Blue Mountain Elementary, Altona Middle, Silver Creek High. Blue Mountain ranks 48th of 950 Colorado public elementaries — top 5% in the state, and rated higher than most Boulder city public schools on state assessments. Altona Middle is 9/10 on GreatSchools. Silver Creek High is 8/10.
A park and neighborhood amenities sit directly across the street.
Fifteen minutes to Pearl Street in Boulder. Ten minutes to the trailheads at Rabbit Mountain and Lagerman Reservoir. The lot is quiet. The neighborhood is walkable. And the open space behind the home will stay open.
